Notices

18th October

  • The school is repeating the “Bag2School” collection of old clothing, which they weigh i for cash payment. There is a notice on the noticeboard telling you more about it, please do help if you can.
  • The Christmas raffle is about to start. We have been unable to do any other form of fund raising this year, and the impact of that on our finances has been considerable. Our biggest fund raiser, the Christmas Cafe, will not happen, but we are intending to carry on with the raffle. Hopefully every adult will take 5 books of raffle tickets to sell.  Tickets are £1 each, or £5 a book so if that happens, the raffle will raise £800, which we desperately need.  Also, we need donations of raffle prizes, so please bring any suitable items to church for us to put on display.
  • Eggsplorer Nativity sets have been hand painted by Sue Tinker and are on sale for £25 each. The proceeds are being split between the Church and Pendleside Hospice.

11th October

  • Thank you to those who joined in to decorate the church for this morning’s Harvest Festival.  We will be taking it all down on Monday morning at 10am so any help would be appreciated.
  • There are still 7 vacant numbers on the 100 club lottery.  Once all 100 numbers are taken the monthly prize fund will be £125 which doubles to £250 for the month of December.  For more details see Les Moore.
  • Weekly offering envelopes are ready for collection at the back of the church

  • Next Sunday is our annual service of Thanksgiving, linked to our Annual Parochial Church Meeting.  Please dont let that put you off.  Its a great opportunity to find out more about how this church is run and to have a say on who is elected to run it on your behalf.

4th October 2020

  • The Harvest Festival is next Sunday.  We would normally donate any Harvest gifts received to members of the local community.  Unfortunately  due to Covid restrictions we are unable to do so this year.  We therefore intend to donate any gifts to the Clayton Baptist Church food bank. Can we therefore ask that any food donations made are non perishable items.

School admissions – faith criteria
If you have a child who will be starting at school in 2021 or 2022 and will be claiming church attendance in support of your application then please read on!
Applicants for 2021:
Obviously it has not been possible for parents to attend public worship since mid-March. For Applicants for places in 2021 parental attendance at worship between Sept 2019 and March 2020 will be assessed and in giving my reference I will simply assume that you would have maintained the same pattern of attendance through to August.
Applicants for 2022:
Criteria are based on parental attendance at worship from September to August in the year* prior to application, the period now starting. However, until church is fully re-opened, without restricted numbers, we will not be able to assess attendance. I will make a clear announcement when church is fully re-opened and when we are again able to assess attendance. Again attendance over the part of year that church is fully open will be reckoned as having been the pattern for the whole year.
Joining on-line services does not get taken into account.
If you want your church attendance to be taken in account you must complete a supplementary form, available from each school or from the relevant school website. Supplementary forms for All Saints and for St James should be returned direct to the school (who will forward them to me or the relevant minister). Supplementary forms for St Christopher’s will need to be brought to me on a date to be announced.
I hope this helps
Toby Webber, Vicar
