The history and heritage of this ancient and spiritual church building, and the people associated with it, is considerable and guided tours are available to interested groups. The “new” church, built in 1512, just three years after Henry VIII was crowned king of England, replaced a much older church. There is documentary evidence dated 1140, in the reign of King Stephen, which refers to a church in Altham, although there is other evidence which points to a church here during Saxon times.
The tour takes about an hour and a quarter. To arrange a visit contact Les Moore at firstname.lastname@example.org or Sue Tinker at tinkerfootman@ aol.com
