CHURCH OPENING

1st January 2017 @ 11:30 am - 30th September 2019 @ 1:30 pm

The church is open on Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes, 11.30 till 1.30, and on the third Sunday in each month 2.00 till 4.00 pm between May and September each year.  On each of the Sunday afternoon openings there will be a guided tour of our ancient and historic building at 2.30 pm. GUIDED TOURS

The history and heritage of this ancient and spiritual church building, and the people associated with it, is considerable and guided tours are available to interested groups. The “new” church, built in 1512, just three years after Henry VIII was crowned king of England, replaced a much older church. Altham Angels

 After very careful consideration we have decided not to have a Festival in 2019. The administrative burden was felt to be too great for the few people who were prepared to join the organising committee. It’s a great shame that such a splendid initiative, which really did seem to bring the community together, has foundered due to lack of support.

Rogation Sunday

Traditionally Rogation Sunday is a day when we ask for Gods blessing on the the fruits of the earth and for those who work with the land to produce our food. Often the community  would walk the the boundaries of the parish and pray that the land be blessed and protected.  This was know as ‘Beat the Bounds’ We honor this tradition with a 3mile walk through our parish ending with a meal in the Walton arms.
